Hanan Townshend

Composer

Hanan Townshend is a New Zealand-born composer and pianist, known for his poetic orchestral scoring and cinematic commercial scores. His work has featured on Terrence Malick films such as The Tree of Life, Knight of Cups, and To the Wonder. 

Townshend has also gained acclaim for his work in documentary film, including collaborations with Academy Award-winning director, Megan Mylan’s film Simple As Water (2021) and the Emmy-award winning docu-series Outcry (2020).

In the world of commercial music, Townshend scores commercials for brands such as Apple, Nike, Guinness, and Volvo, which have aired during high profile slots such as the Super Bowl, Apple Keynotes, and the Oscars.

Canadian filmmaker, producer & photographer

Zaynê Akyol is an award-winning filmmaker of Kurdish origin who was born in Turkey and raised in Quebec.

In 2016, Zaynê released her first feature documentary Gulîstan, Land of Roses,  was selected by 80 international film festivals, earning 50 nominations and winning 12 awards, including the prestigious Doc Alliance Award given at the Locarno Film Festival.

In her free time, Akyol is a photographer whose exhibitions have been widely seen. She recently released her second documentary “Rojek”, an intimate conversation with some of the most important members of the Islamic State (IS), who are currently being detained in Syria.

American filmmaker, documentarian & producer

Lance Oppenheim is an American filmmaker, documentarian, and producer from Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

His work blends cinematic genres to explore the lives of people who create homes in unconventional spaces and places.

His films have been screened at film festivals across the world including Sundance, Rotterdam, Tribeca, True/False, and featured at the Museum of Modern Art, the Fondazione Prada, and the Smithsonian. His debut feature Some Kind of Heaven (2020) was an Official Selection at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival.
